a miserably wet cool polluted day
i walked over to the hotel
to see if I could score a ticket from the band
i am told they have no tickets
i ask Tony if he told bob I was around
no, he said, I don’t talk to him
and don’t bother me anymore for tickets
we had plenty for the outlaws tour
with Willie Nelson, he said
but none for Europe
so at 7 I walked over to the show
said hello to Frankie who has busked
most of the shows since prague
playing Dylan tunes
and put up a sign
at 8pm as the concert began
I was given a ticket and went in
Same show, little impro
and as damp and uninspired as the weather
or, perhaps,I have heard too many shows
anyhow, it was 24 years ago since I did this
Playing by myself is no longer fun,
my act is limited by my inability to dance like I once did
and people really do want to hear Dylan tunes
like he used to sing them
as Frankie does very well
i played a few songs, did a couple of Sufi spins
and hope my spirit was appreciated
